The Angel Is Tired

A brush is my cheapest and most effective vaccine.

Although it is still terrible that there’s no remedy for the COVID-19 virus across the world, fear is the most horrible thing for human beings. There is a miraculous medicine that “knowing the blank and keeping the black.”

My footprint traces in 2020 are only on working and reading.

The crisis this year highlights that the cheap prices of a brush, rice paper and ink, and they are miraculous medicine against the crisis of a dinosaur-like art.

Yang Jiechang

I was born in Foshan, Guangdong on 16 November, 1956. My grandfather taught me to use a pair of chopsticks to eat and a brush to write from the age of three. I graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1982 and I have stayed there to teach. I have worked and created in Heidelberg, Germany and Paris, France since 1989. With three simple bamboo sticks, which are a brush and a pair of chopsticks, I have made a living across the world.
