PIFO Gallery is pleased to announce the self-titled exhibition of artist Zhang Lei, his first solo exhibition in the gallery. The exhibition will showcase Zhang Lei's creation from 2010 to 2018, including more than one hundred monotypes (draw on the copperplate with print ink, then, print the image on paper by copper machine) and several paper works with watercolor.
Zhang Lei's monotypes reveal a surreal quality of mysterious desolation. In his work, his basic interest is to portray ordinary objects in their quotidien environment, drawings of things from his everyday life which are easily being ignored. The artists transfers his acute awareness of these objects as vessels for memories and feelings into monochrome monotypes.
The exhibition will open on May 17 and continue to July 1, 2018.
