Hadrien de Montferrand Gallery presents Zhu Rixin’s first solo show “Boundary” featuring archival ink pen, acrylic and spray paint on tracing paper and canvas.

The exhibition takes its title “Jie” (Boundary) from ancient Chinese literature, where it represents the transformation from the material to the metaphysical. Nowadays, “boundary” is not only the concept of the line but also the distance between professions, between privacy and the interconnected world and also a theory of geopolitics etc. “Jie” has become the synthesis of space and time. The exhibition “Boundary” is focused on the extension of this concept in contemporary society.

Graduated from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, Zhu Rixin (born in 1986) introduces a new world through his own perception of “l(fā)andscape”. He assumes that some geological phenomena happen in certain areas, resulting in a collision between natural powers and human fictional boundaries. The artist creates an alternative world where the conflicts can induce people to think about past and present.

In the past few years, Zhu Rixin has been using Landscape Architecture theory to illustrate the world, tends to interpretate an artistic kind of science, a poetic logic. He tries to combine Landscape Architecture with other disciplines so as to create new inspirations. This exhibition is the result of combining Landscape Architecture and Geopolitics.

In our age of information people experience the world through news instead of actual personal experiences. The ready availability of information can easily lead people to have generic emotional experiences. However, Zhu Rixin prefers investigating the phenomena of landscape instead of impersonating it. For a long period of time the artist recorded landscape with a restrained attitude, aiming to substitute artificial emotions for rational presentations. Zhu Rixin tends to interpretate an artistic kind of science, a poetic logic.
