Closely combining art creation and the practice of having a social life is an important idea in the teaching of CAFA, so that, Academic Affairs Office at CAFA organized the “Social Practice and Art Investigation, Sketching Outside the School”, on the basis of summarizing the experiences of the traditional featured courses, it effectively integrates the teaching resources, sharing the platform of practice and teaching outside the school, and through this joint course is able to realize the interaction and communication of multi-disciplinary practice and teaching. On May 12, 2016, the exhibition of the outstanding works of “Social Practice and Art Investigation, Sketching Outside the School” and documentary respectively opened at the rotating stairs exhibition hall of Building 5, 4/F exhibition hall of the building of the Department of Sculpture, exhibition hallof Building 7 as well as Dayuntang Art Museum, marking the successful conclusion of the course for the year.

Academic Affairs Office organized the teaching inspection team of the school including Vice President Su Xinping, Assistant to CAFA and Director ofAcademic Affairs Office Wang Xiaolin, and the leaders in charge of the teaching from various faculties and departments, to inspect the exhibition of excellent courses, after listening to the teacher of each winning group reporting on the course, they fully affirmed the teaching achievements of the practice. After the opening of the exhibition, it organized a meeting of teachers’ communication, toput forward opinions and suggestions for the further development and in-depth study of the course.

More than 150 teaching teams consisting of a total of 2262 students, who are from the School of Chinese Painting, CAFA, School of Plastic Arts, School of Experimental Art, School of Design, School of Architecture, School of Urban Design, participated in the teaching practice of the year, they visited nearly 100practice and teaching bases to investigate and sketch, spreading all over 20 provinces and cities across the country. During the period of practice andteaching, directed by the instructors, the students unfolded the “dual practice”activities that combined artistic practice and social practice.

At the opening ceremony of the joint course exhibition of works and documents,Vice President of CAFA Su Xinping gave a speech, and said that it was not only a course of works exhibition of sketching in the countryside and artistic practice,it was more important that the teachers and students were able towholeheartedly develop in an open state in this process, offering a base for the course of study during the next year, and he talked about the artistic practice andinvestigated results of the two academy practice bases including Jianchuan County of Yunnan and Shexian of Anhui.
