“Fusheng Font”: a Style of Calligraphy, Font, and the Syntheses of Knowledge

Lu Fusheng’s exquisite artistic skill in calligraphy, combined with profound training in philology, has experienced decades of accumulation, wondering, refining and generalization in the style of calligraphy the “Fusheng Font” is thus naturally formed.

The famous artist of Chinese calligraphy and painting Chen Peiqiu pointed out:

“Lu Fusheng’s calligraphy was diverted from the inscribed tablets and silks and integrated a variety of characteristics of regular script, cursive writing, seal character and official script, to form his individual features, so it can be called ‘Fusheng Font’ ”, and she wrote the three Chinese characters “Fusheng Font” to commemorate the exhibition.

Lu Fusheng: Retreat Reading and Highlight Meaning

Lu believes that the subjectivity of the calligraphy was formed in the process of the unity of beauty and the use was replaced by the separation of beauty and use so it promotes art in the inhibition of the reading of the content of calligraphy.

Lu boldly penetrates into the cultural roots to hide the readability of calligraphy. Using the“Fusheng Font” he wrote on the variant fonts, collected from various documents, books, cultural relics, materials, which were integrated and transformed into a kind of rich and unified visual image, so the text is unreadable, which makes the work become a calligraphy artwork of a unique aesthetic value; Secondly it is a textual work available for exploration, after regaining content it deepens the understanding of works; finally it is a cultural product that is available to read and expound, and to experience the spiritual realm of traditional culture. Increasingly improving the interpretation of work to refresh the exhibition, skillfully and patiently guiding the audience to feel the multivariate calligraphy and to taste the visual cultural feast between the traditional and contemporary, between the east and the west.
