The “Young Talent Residency Project”is an important project implemented by CAFA since 2014, aimed to further improve and promote the working mechanism of the development of the young art talent, so a number of outstanding graduates who have ideas, needs, made the preparation and ability to continue to improve the graduation design, graduation creation, have an opportunity of surpassing the self and independent innovation again, to explore the new platform and path to cultivate and improve the level of high-end art talent.
The 12 artists are respectively from the various faculties of CAFA including the School of Plastic Arts, School of Chinese Painting, School of Design, School of Architecture, Institute of Plastic Arts, etc., selected from the outstanding graduates who apply for residency and opportunity for creating at the school. The exhibition is the first group exhibition for the artists. It is jointly planned by Ge Yujun, Gao Yuan and Shi Guanzhe from CAFA, the theme “Ten Fingers” has evolved from the expounding of the Buddhist doctrine of “Ten figures is like a forest”. In the name of “ten fingers”, it implies that it wishes “the talent to develop, promoting the doctrine”, and also implies that the participating artists “respectively develop the respective fields through their achievements”, and the “specialists” constantly study and gradually develop to “generalists”.
The exhibition showcases the creative process of the 12 artists who graduated from CAFA in 2014 over 6 months. We hope through this exhibition to synchronously show the experience and deficiency, so it is conducive to improve our work in the future.
