On January 24, 2015, “Art Project 24” themed on “Naissance” is about to officially start at Building No.1, Today Art Museum. The Round 1 "Naissance Art" belongs to Project 24, a complex exhibition project born in the current chaos and contradictions of contemporary art phenomena. Number 24 is regarded by Chinese people as being both multiple and consummate. This is also a major direction of Project 24: both for the multiple perspective reform and a consummate artistic spirit. Project 24 brings new blood for future possibilities in the art sector and gives it a new force to bring about artistic innovation from a new perspective.

Starting with “Naissance”, the exhibition will appear with a totally new artistic outlook for the public. It will be the accelerator for a generation of new blood. The dimensions of art works will break all the established exhibition plans. Diversity and innovation are its main body. It is diversified, verbal and social. It has a sense of temperature and energy. It can be physical, vocal or in written form. The choice of artists blurs the border of ages. Independent individual projects are possible as there is an exhibition within the exhibition. The artists may submit their own proposals and a careful selection of these proposals will be presented to the public. The exhibition is thus more unexpected and diversified. “Naissance” is also the blood forming organ for a new generation of driving power. As a new type of people of the new generation, what we can do is to start with ourselves and then explore any possibilities around us and then we can lay our hands on the work. We then elevate them onto the fundamental creative power of art. We will create new art from a new starting point and at a new pace.

The exhibition invites a total of 19 artists, and the work covers conceptual art, multimedia art, installation art, performance and easel painting, etc. No matter what kind of art form is used, the exhibition will actually cross the gap of ages of the artists, to blur the boundaries of art media, to remove the cumbersome and lengthy shackles, using the most appropriate and the most perceptive planto show the essence of art.

In this exhibition, the exhibiting artists’ exploration involves body, new media, time, space, status, and other dimensions. Some take body as the carrier of subjectivity, carrying the observation of memories, experiences and daily life, in the interaction between the spectator and work to deepen the awareness of the body as subjective participation; or do we regard the body as the representation of the moving object, or regard it as a moving object that is observed; a computer code and programming take the place of the artist’s organization and thinking, the innovation of a program creates the contingency of texture and layers on a screen, giving the viewer infinite visual joy and liberation; the clue to the time is constantly repeated in the artists’ work, some using the way of writing time to visualize the flowing time; or by using the solidification of time to freeze time and memory, the different performances all have a profound interpretation.

The exhibition will set up an individual independent art project, and showcases the form of “Exhibition within an Exhibition” and the “Special Plan”, which will be an highlight of the exhibition. The majority of the selected artists are young, and the organizer builds an independent space for artists in the main hall, the selected artists will submit their individual plans around new propositions, which are a prototype for the content of the display, finished and showcased during the show.

This way aims, with the perspective of a new generation of artists, and their independent thinking, to provide the public with rich and special experiences, so that the audience have a deeper understanding of diversity and innovative concepts. Exhibition within an Exhibition is divided inthree directions: reflection of contemporary art ecology, reflection of art ontology, and the dialogue between space and art. The three orientations are completely open during the whole process, thus we can learn the “process” that the artists present towards art imagination. While the “Special Plan” launched at the same period is more future-oriented. Future-oriented is not the same as uncertainty, but the changeable consciousness and the reversed position is full of predictions for the future. “Special Plan” is initiated by the artist, and in cooperation with other participating artists they finish it together. The “Special Plan” changes the usual visual image and thought process, to create a new artistic rendering mode.
