I “On the Road ? 2014: Nominated Chinese Young Artists Exhibition and Young Critics Forum”

“On the Road” is a continuing subject of contemporary art, aimed at constantly sorting out and accumulating a contemporary art documentary centered on the Post-1970s and Post-1980s, to discover and discuss the emerging problems of contemporary art. “On the Road” has a plan that takes different mediums as the itemized basis in the early years, starting from oil painting in 2013, focusing on the new ink in 2014 and will focus on new media in 2015. “On the Road” is an enterprise for the youths, in addition to the targeted groups that are the young artists and related art phenomenon, the major participators of the forum and event planning are young critics. In 2014, selected by Yan Weixin, Wu Hongliang, Director of the Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy, “Art and Wealth” Editor in Chief Zhu Xiaojun and Sheng Wei, Zhang Xinying joined the curatorial team and was supported by the senior ink painters such as Wang Tiande, Liu Qinghe, Xu Lei, Zhang Yu and more than 30 critics such as Zhang Zikang, Viki Lulu, Gao Ling, He Guiyan, Fu Xiaodong, and Wang Dongdong. Concentrating on the visit, observation, research, combing through, editing and publication of a documentary of more than 160 nominated artists, it selected 40 young artists for the sample exhibitions which are combined with exhibitions to hold an academic forum themed on “The History of Contemporary Ink Painting, Scenes and Writing”. III Historical Perspective: Starting from the Medium to categorize a Single Medium’s Documentary of the Times

The early years of “On the Road” are arranged according to medium, based on oil painting, ink painting, print or new media in the planning of the exhibition, with a different category each year, and launches a comprehensive documentary exhibition in the 5th year, centrally presenting and discussing the academic issues reflected in the activities in these four years.

IV Together on the Road: the Common Business of Art Museums, Young Artists and Critics

The targeted artists of “On the Road” are positioned in the Post-1970s and Post-1980s art groups located in the creative prime time and have never been deeply combed through in historiography.

V “On the Road” = Ecological Observation + Academic Discussion
