Bu Hua, a digital artist, was born in 1973 and is currently living and working in Beijing, China. In 1995 she graduated with a BFA from the Institute of Fine Art, Tsinghua University, Beijing and in 1998 she graduated the short study from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Academie voor Beeldende, Vorming. Bu Hua is a leading artist of the 'Jelly Time' exhibition and a classic genre-bender, whose flash animation "Cat" went viral and swept animation awards in China. Today, whether in digital graphics, illustration, oil painting or animation, her unique artistic vocabulary and style have brought her extraordinary success. Her work is remarkable not only for a sense of visual joy, but for the way it touches the modern souls. Her extravagantly imaginative compositions and rich colors liberate the modern imagination, communicating her own boundless sense of fancy and the crystal pure dreams of young women.

Bu Hua's Work

Bu Hua is one of talented digital artists who have gained their initial reputation from internet in the 21st century. The work she created, either animation artwork Cat that was downloaded over a million times from the internet, or Savage Growth, which was exhibited in Shanghai Biennale and contributed to her award of the international new youth media artist, builds up a magic virtual world. The world that has been carefully constructed, is filled with competitions between a large number of buildings and group of odd species, and is constantly shifting over the two opposite extremes. On one hand, the virtual world shows us a paradise full of luxury goods and gorgeous Chinese style architectures, on the other hand, the black sky as a background tune signals an anti-Utopia scene in industrialized China. The images in Buhua 's work are all dark sided, the "ostrich " looks like male genitalia, KFC papa watches the Chinese acrobats playing on a tiger 's back; a monster with green leaves dances with electronic music. In 2010, the Shanghai EXPO committee invited her to create an animation film for a 400 square meters LED screen in Future Hall, one of the 5 main halls. Her latest work , LV forest, tells different aspects of intriguing relationships in current society. The work reveals her concern for the shallow materialism girls in city life aspire to and satirizes males with unlimited desires.
