Founded by China Meticulous Painting Society, the Exhibition of Chinese Gongbi Paintings has been held 8 times, it takes nearly a year to organise, gathering 18 specially-invited artists, 60 academic nominated artists, and 68 public-selected artists, basically covering the most active young, middle-aged and senior artists in the meticulous art world. The exhibition is held every three years, thus it showcases the latest works created by the artists within the last three years, to fully demonstrate the diverse development paths and extensive exploration and practices of contemporary Chinese meticulous painting.

At the press conference ahead of the opening, the Exhibition Curatorial Committee member Zhu Xiaojun said 66 works were selected from 6000 public-invited works after two rounds of selections, showcasing the meticulous world was injected with more fresh energy. Feng Dazhong, Director of the Exhibition Organising Committee, President of China Meticulous Painting Society said the exhibition was unprecedented both in size and academic depth, which was representative of the latest standards of contemporary meticulous painting and showcases the latest exploration states of the artists. Director of the Exhibition Curatorial Committee Fan Di’an concluded that it took several innovations after the establishment of thek meticulous painting exhibition for more than two decades, such as initially inviting artists from China Taiwan and overseas Chinese artists to exhibit their works, initially showcasing cross-border, experimental works such as painting installation, initially holding a series of academic discussions and public educational activities to coincide with the exhibition, initially designing, editing and publishing a large scale bilingual catalog of 540 pages in accordance with international standards.

This exhibition includes around 400 large scale works by 146 artists, including a variety of mediums such as ink, colored ink, mixed media, painting installation, etc., that filled with the exhibition halls on the ground floor of the art museum. The exhibition continues until December 26.
