“Ink Files” in Its First Round: China and South Korea Invited Contemporary Ink Painting Exhibition

Hosted by South Korea Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, jointly organized by the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts in China, China Jiangsu City Walk Culture and Media Co., Ltd., “Ink Archive” in Its First Round - China and South Korea Invited Contemporary Ink Painting Exhibition will respectively open in China Nanjing and South Korea Jeju in September and October, 2013. Li Xiaoshan, Curator of the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts serves as the academic advisor, Chen Jian and Lin Fushun (South Korea) serve as the curators, Chen Rui serves as the executive curator. More than 20 famous contemporary artists including Cai Guangbin, Cao Baoquan, Du Xiaotong, Guan Huaibin, Han Feng, Huang Dan, Jin Weihong, Liu Qinghe, Liu She, Nie Weigu, Qiu Zhijie, Shen Qin, Sun Liang, Wang Dongling, Wang Muyu, Wang Tiande, Wei Qingji, Wu Xiangyun, Wu Yi, Xu Jiacun, Yang Naimin, Ye Yongqing, Zhang Hao, Zhang Yu, Zhang Zhengmin, Zhao Xucheng, Zhu Jianzhong were invited to feature their works in the exhibitions.

Over the last decade, Chinese contemporary ink has constantly broken through new boundaries, showing a diverse appearance, launched by the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts, and based in the academic study and presentation of contemporary ink, “Ink Archive” series of exhibitions are about to comb through, analysis, study, and record the various phenomena in contemporary Chinese ink, with the objective being for a neutral, rigorous, responsible attitude, and the use of a reasonable academic approach, to “file” them.

Meanwhile, “Ink Archive” not only focuses on Mainland China, but also turns to the international exchange of contemporary ink, after the show in China, it will be transferred to South Korea, and invite artists from South Korea to feature their works, in the future, it intends to include artists from Japan, and the regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, intending to be the most influential ink platform in East Asia.
