For Chinese Painting: Teaching Forum of Landscape Painting for the National Art Academies and Exhibition of Teachers and Students

Organized by the School of Chinese Painting, CAFA, the National Teaching Forum of Landscape Painting and the exhibition of teachers and students were held at CAFA Art Museum on March 1, 2013, to sum up the teaching experiences of landscape painting in the new period, to have an in-depth discussion on the current situation that landscape painting is facing, and to promote the continuous development of landscape painting teaching. Experts and front-line teachers of landscape painting from major art colleges across the nation were invited to participate in it.

At the same time, the “Exhibition of Students and Teachers that Majored in Landscape Painting from Art Academies across China” was held, to summarize and show the achievements of landscape painting teaching form art colleges across China in recent years, as well as the publication of portfolios of teachers and catalogs of students.

Teaching units of landscape painting of the China Academy of Art, Graduate School of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, Academy of Art & Design, Tsinghua University, Xi’An Academy of Fine Arts, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Nanjing University of Arts, Shandong University of Arts, Guangxi Art Institute were invited to participate in the exhibition, and 31 professional teachers got invited including Chen Ping, Cui Xiaodong, Li Tiesheng, Yao Mingjing, Liu Rong, Qiu Ting, Zhang Gumin, Zhang Jie, Lin Haizhong, Chen Xiangxun, Zhang Weiping, Zhuo Hejun, Lu Yushun, He Jialin, Xu Jun, Chen Hui, Han Jingwei, Zhao Xiaorong, Wang Bao-an, Wei Yunfei, Fang Yong, Zhang Youxian, Fang Jun, Zhang Zhimin, Wang Xingtang, Huang Gesheng, Zhong Tao, Yangshan (in alphabetical order).

Landscape painting teaching and creation of art colleges are the major force in the expansion of landscape painting, and has been dominant in the development of the evolution of contemporary and modern Chinese painting. Focusing on the subject of Chinese landscape painting “inheritance and innovation”, experienced front-line teachers were invited to have in-depth discussions during the forum and exhibition, aiming to promote professional exchanges, to strengthen understanding and cooperation between sister institutions, and to think and propose how to deeply dig, inherit and study tradition and innovation.
