“Non Intention: Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary Oil Painting” opened at the Art Museum of Hubei Academy of Fine Arts on February 18, 2013, and most of the works are oil paintings. Artists include: Ma Lin, Wang Xinyao, Fang Jinghua, Zhu Zhigang, Liu Xin, Zhu Xiaoguo, Leng Jun, Zhang Zhan, Chen Jiangang, Sandro Telaodi, Guo Zhengshan, Pan Weichao.
As Baxendale said, painting art is always revealing some “mode of intention”, although this theory stems from a discussion of the history of painting, and reveals the concrete relationships between the “painting” and the “painter”. However, because many similar theories are misappropriated by the postmodern, “painter” was promoted to “artist”, “painting” was promoted to “image”, and painting methods even leapt from artistic field to the field of sociology. As a result, when art leads the “l(fā)ife”, it also deletes the necessity of the skill of ART.

Perhaps, openly returning to the fun of art or painting itself should be regarded as a targeted treason. However, understanding the “fun” itself, you should no longer need to deliberately remind yourself what gestures others think of you, instead, learning reflections and advocacy of the simplicity and contentment of art.
In fact, today is filled with various types of media images, painting skill is given back to the painter, and no longer constrained by various kinds of “intention” or “meaning”, benefiting the painter and audience.
It should be noted that the “Non” of “Non Intention”, is not completely refusal, or pertaining to supervision of the ill of the current situation, instead, it is trying to emphasize the “abandoning” in a controllable degree. Is this roughly still an “intention”?

For oil painting is art in terms of the visual experience, a beam of light, a color gamut and a form, it touches people themselves, happening in the past, today, and the future. For the works by more than a dozen painters embraced by this exhibition, it is important that they realize the starting point of the next artistic target together, rather than pointing out the remarkable achievements of the paintings.
