On June 17th, “2011 Cai Zhisong’s Solo Exhibition” will be held at the National Museum of Indonesia. Important dignitaries from the Indonesian government and collectors from all over the world will attend the opening ceremony. This is another important solo exhibition following his attendance at the 54th Venice Biennale.

As he has not been affected by modern history or like many artists the impact of political ideology, so Cai Zhisong instead of being affected by the impact of traditional culture, crosses the barriers between history and culture while naturally integrating them, whether they are from the East or the West. Employing the most modern techniques, he presents a most authentic experience of art. Just as his work entitled “Clouds” exhibited at the 54th Venice Biennale, he manifests the highest blend of man and nature while using modern materials.

Ode to Motherland No.4 has won the bronze prize at the 10th National Art Exhibition in 2004.

"Try hard until you see the rise of the cloud, and that is the start of the rain" and “As free as idle clouds or wild cranes” is the realm Cai has been after as well as his detached attitude towards life.

This exhibition features Cai’s classic creations like the series of Motherland and Rose. His works are the perfect combination of history and contemporary, not only reflecting his mastery of various techniques, but also presenting the characteristics of non-conformity that offers an inherent and implicit appeal to a combination of traditions and modern times. Undoubtedly, these works inspire us.
