ART HK 11, Asia’s prominent Art Fair and one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the international art calendar returns to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai. Now in its fourth year, ART HK has grown from a regional affair into a major art fair which boasts 260 galleries from 38 countries with many prominent dealers signing up for the first time this year and they come together to offer the largest display of contemporary art ever seen in Hong Kong.

From 26th – 29th May, ART HK 11 will present works from modern masters such as Picasso as well as important contemporary artists such as Takashi Murakami and Damien Hirst, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the very best and most extensive showcase of modern and contemporary art in Asia. ART HK 11 will also include two feature gallery sections: ART FUTURES (a multi-gallery display of works for young galleries showing emerging talent in the last five years) and ASIA ONE (a new addition to ART HK where Asian galleries will present solo shows of artists of Asian origin). Its highlights include a massive steel installation by Pakistani artist Rashid Rana, a video portrait by the legendary Bill Viola and never-before-seen works by Scandinavian Olafur Eliasson.

“The best bits are often the things one discovers by wandering around rather than the big name artists one knew in advance would be there,” explains David Clarke, a professor at the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Hong Kong. The art world comes out in full force for the vernissage of ART HK 11. As the fair director Magnus Renfrew says, “The vernissage culminates all the excitement that has built up around the fair… In addition to the great and good of Hong Kong, the collectors, curators and artists from around the world fly in and every year there is a great buzz.”
