The Bunker is pleased to present No Quarter, the first institutional solo exhibition of Beijing based emerging artist Zhou Yan. No Quarter will open on October 7, and will show until December 8.

The Bunker’s physical space was built in 1941 by the Japanese occupation army, to function as General Okamura’s North China office headquarters. After many decades of obscurity, it was eventually converted into an art space in 2016 due of its unique history and architecture. For No Quarter, the artist has designed a first-person shooter game with the objective of assassinating General Okamura, to be played by exhibition visitors who are connected using a local area network. The claustrophobic interior of the art space is compounded by the closed nature of the computer network, creating a virtual echo chamber. This is a place where history, ideology, and personal attitudes can be discarded, examined, or dissected in the process of playing a game.
