On June 12, 2015, the unveiling ceremony of the Institute of Arts Administration and Education, CAFA was held at CAFA Art Museum. Fan Di’an, President of CAFA and Yu Ding, First Dean of the Institute of Arts Administration and Education, CAFA together unveiled the nameplate of the Institute of Arts Administration and Education, CAFA, in addition to the honored guests who participated in the “Art Education for Social Innovation” an International Academic Conference and International Higher Art School Presidents Forum, the experts and scholars of the Committee of Art Education at China Artists Association and the teachers and students of CAFA attended the ceremony together to witness the historical moment that CAFA carried out a new initiative of strategic development in order to comply with the development of disciplines and specialties.

After this, a signing ceremony for the educational cooperation between CAFA and Columbia University was held, Fan Di’an, President of CAFA and Prof. Judith M. Burton, from the Teachers College, Columbia University signed on behalf of the both sides, which marked the friendly cooperation between CAFA and the Teachers College, Columbia University, to jointly promote the development of art education in the new era.

Being an innovative school that cultivates inter-disciplinary trans-boundary talent, the Institute of Arts Administration and Education, CAFA is the secondary college of CAFA with its teaching directions including art, management, economics and pedagogy, etc. Under the concept of “innovative education”, it pays attention to the cultivation of comprehensive professional quality and practical operation skills, while the architecture of the institute and the curriculum is different from the literature faculty of a traditional school, placing the emphasis on comprehensive multidisciplinary basic teaching, unfolding a “general foundational” education for the students, to actively develop studio teaching and project practice courses, thus effectively combining with the scientific research institution – National Art and Cultural Policy Institute, to establish an integrative teaching platform of research, study and production. Along with the CAFA’s motto of “Seeking to carry it out to its breath and greatness, so as to omit none of the more exquisite and minute points which it embraces”, the institute advocates its idea of “Only action can make business lasting prosperity, while simple talking has never accomplished anything”, and it is committed to building a first-class innovative college, to be the pioneer in the field of art administration and art education at home and abroad; to attract and integrate social resources, and build the bridge between various disciplines of CAFA and artistic careers, cultural industry, to cultivate the talent of art management and education to create an international vision, and adapt to the future development of Chinese culture and art.

When the Institute of Arts Administration and Education was prepared in 2014, it began to wrestle with the possibility of cooperation in running schools with international well-known colleges and universities. On January 29, 2015, under the witness of Li Keqiang, the Premier of China’s State Council and Manuel Valls, French Prime Minister, CAFA and KEDGE Business School, France, signed a cooperation framework agreement for “Sino-France Institute of Arts Administration”, which aims to become a high-level educational institution in the fields of art, cultural institutions (including museums), arts administration, design administration and cultural industry, etc.

Institute of Arts Administration and Education, CAFA has always adhered to the international educational ideas in the construction of disciplines, established a cooperation relationship with the City University London, UK, Columbia University, California Institute of the Arts, Christie’s Education, New York, USA, Royal College of Art, UK, Freie Universit?t Berlin (IKM), Germany,and Business School of University of Bologna, Italy, carrying out cooperation with the exchange of teachers and students of both schools, organizing an investigation and study abroad, building summer school curricula and so on, to fully guarantee the international creation of the curriculum and teaching methods.
