On the afternoon of August 20, 2014, jointly hosted by the Communist Youth League Beijing Committee and Beijing Federation of Literature and Art Circles, organized by Beijing Center for Youth Art Service, etc., the press conference of the “Story of Youth· The First Beijing Young Artists Art Carnival” was held at Today Art Museum, Director of Beijing Center for Youth Art Service, Liu Bingquan, curator Yu Yang, a young teacher from CAFA, Director of Today Art Museum Gao Peng, etc., attended the conference. Wang Mingming, Dean of Beijing Fine Art Academy served as the director of the art committee.

In order to implement the demand for the central element of the Communist Youth League for effective contact, it serves and attracts the emerging youth groups. The Beijing Communist Youth League Committee unfolds special activities for the outstanding young artists who are under the age of 45 and live in Beijing art districts, and the young artists from Beijing art colleges and universities. The activities are entitled the “Story of Youth”, aiming at building a platform to promote the truth, the good and the beautiful, transmitting positive energy, showcasing contemporary youth art's self value and the art of originality.

In the press conference, Liu Bingquan offered an in-depth report and communicated with the present media on the origin, content, organization structure, incentive measures, significance and the expected effect of the carnival activities. Curator Yu Yang talked about his idea of the activities from his own perspective, and referred to his specific work direction, while the Director Gao Peng focused on his relationship with the Beijing Communist Youth League Committee, and the reason why Today Art Museum supported the activities and so on. It is worth mentioning that the reason why Today Art Museum was chosen as the site of the exhibition section of the carnival activities, after the members of the organizing committee visited the artists’ studios, and communicated with young artists on the intention of the site, they had made this decision.

According to Liu Bingquan’s introduction, the carnival activities lasted for three months, mainly including four sections of activities: “Art Moves the Youth·Vitality Beijing” Beijing outstanding young artists works exhibition and the selection of excellent works, “Pursuit of a Successful Footprint, Sentiment of the Power of Dreams” Beijing outstanding young artist network interviews, “Race of Painting·Chinese Dreams” Beijing outstanding young artists creative forum for socialist core values, “Dream Sets Sail” Beijing outstanding young artists sale for charity the “Hope Project”.

The organizing committee will select 100 finalists, to display at the Today Art Museum and Gozong Art Museum for 2 weeks, the exhibition subjects cover Chinese painting, oil painting, and sculpture, and it will open to the public around October 30.

After the end of the press conference, the media that were present communicated with the guests on some issues. For example, they asked questions about the situation of the host institution that visited the artists who lived in Songzhuang and other regions, thinking of the official institutions then they began to pay close attention to the phenomenon of flowing young artists in Beijing, to support the Today Art Museum and the continuity of the carnival activity, etc., guests were able to sincerely answer the questions.

The carnival was launched on August 1, and will close on November 30.
