This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. Images of China, the exhibition of contemporary Chinese ink painting and sculpture, which is co-hosted by the National Art Museum of China and the China International Cooperation Center will be showcased at the Grand Palais in Paris from March 26 to March 30, 2014.

This is a first for contemporary Chinese art at the Grand Palais, which is of special significance to the cultural exchanges between China and France.

The National Art Museum of China is the only national art museum in China. It acts as the bridge between China and the world for the exchanges of art. The China International Cooperation Center has long been committed to promoting exchange and dialogue between Chinese and foreign cultures.

This time, both organizations worked together and, under the theme “Images of China”, selected 60 contemporary Chinese ink painters and 20 sculptors to present to the French people masterful Chinese ink paintings and sculptures that are rich in oriental culture. These pieces break from traditional patterns, have a strong sense of modernity and personal style, reflect the latest achievements and high standard of contemporary Chinese ink painting and sculpture. They are also a reflection of today’s thriving Chinese society.
