To celebrate the 15th anniversary for the handover of the administration of Macao to the People's Republic of China, the exhibition "Fever" organized by the Oriente Museum, Co-organized by Funda??o Oriente and Art For All Society (AFA) and sponsored by Macau Foundation, will open from February 13 to April 27, 2014 at Museu do Oriente in Lisbon, Portugal. 66 artworks including painting, ceramics, photography, installation and video art from 15 Macau artists will showcase during the exhibition. This is the second exhibition AFA cooperated with Museu do Oriente since 2009, brought the Macau excellent large-scale contemporary art exhibition to Portugal.
"Fever", the title selected for this exhibition, is the memories of the 15th anniversary for the handover of the administration of Macao to the People's Republic of China, and is an exercise in meditation about the subjectivity of Macao, as well as a review and prospect of Macau contemporary art which was developed fifteen years. Organized by AFA, jointly curated by James Chu and José Drummond, this exhibition presents works from 15 Macao young artists: Lai Sio Kit, Alice Kok, Nick Tai, Eric Fok, Cau Guo Jie, Fortes Pakeong Sequeira, Coke Wong, Hong Wai, Ann Hoi, Sylviye Lei, Tong Chong, Peng Yun, Lio Hak Man, Jo?o ó and James Chu.

To give further perspective on this view is the fact that these 15 artists, with the exception of one, all have less than 40 years old. The work of these artists who are full of potentials, speaks about the period of time that identifies the new Macao territory, as well as it gives a clear image of the development of Macao Contemporary Art. These artists and their works are part of one of the most memorable moments of Macao Art history and their works certainly will impact future generations.
By bringing together seemingly diverse languages this exhibition shows that the artistic practice of the territory is rich in variety. In these diverse practices it can be found poetry and strangeness, concept and fragility, reality and fiction, mystery and abstraction, irony and representation, city and body, time and memory, meanings and feelings, spirituality and contemporary. In Fever it is the experience of this emotional and social potential that builds the identity of each artist that is giving voice to a wide range of issues that, in one way or another, ends up portraying the city of Macau.
