The year 2013 is the 50th anniversary of the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) and also the 60th anniversary of an art career and the 50th anniversary of the teaching career of Zhong Han. On this occasion, NAMOC launches “Culture Accumulation-Zhong Han Art Exhibition”, one of its “National Art Donation and Collection Show Series”, comprehensively reviewing the great achievements of Zhong Han in creating the time feature of Chinese oil painting by learning foreign arts.

Zhong Han is an outstanding oil painting artist and fine art educator in China, a senior professor of CAFA. As an artist and scholar, Zhong Han compares Chinese and Western art from a macroscopic angle and opens up a path for practice and theory that mutually develops in the process of associating ancient culture with modern culture. During the past 60 years, he has made a creation amidst the changing art circles and vividly reflects the cultural ideal under the background of Chinese social reform in the latter half of the 20th century.

Cultural Accumulation - Zhong Han Art Exhibition sets several academic subjects to reflect the achievements of Zhong Han on the basis of concluding his art career and this includes the monumental oil painting “At the Bank of Yanhe River” and its scripts and the Yellow River Series, studio subject series with delicate life sentiments and the “White Crane Ridge” Series with humanistic philosophy and a sense of history. Nearly 300 works completely and systematically present the sincere and deep historical sense and concern in the reality of Zhong Han and have a spectator's experience of his rigorous attitude to art of “start again”. Mr. Zhong Han donates 10 sets of his works including “Trudge in the Sand Strom” to NAMOC on this exhibition, which further shows a generous artistic spirit of the older generation of oil painters.
