The Initiating Exhibition of “Art Nova 100” 2013 Held in Beijing

“Art Nova 100” 2013 project was officially launched in 798 Art Zone on Wednesday August 21, 2013, the initiating exhibition of the show is held in Beijing, there are more than 360 works by 120 Chinese and Korean young artists all featured together at 798 Art Factory, SZ Art Center, and Phoenix Art Palace in 798 Art Zone, which is a rare opportunity to understand the creative ecology of Chinese and Korean young artists of the year.

Some industrial professionals, such as Feng Boyi, Piao Yinglan(Korea), Sui Jianguo, Wang Guangle, Wang Huangsheng, Wang Qi, Ye Yongqing, Yu Hong, Zhao Li, etc. were invited to be part of the art committee, upholding the principle of “Open, Equality, Fair”, selecting more than 100 young artists as the participating artists of 2013 annual exhibition, out of more than 2000 young artists both from the recommendations by the judges and self registration. All the artists were born in or after 1975, and most of them have the background of professional art colleges using a variety of media to create, covering oil painting, sculpture, ink and wash painting, printmaking, image, installation, etc., in order to truly show the current creative status of Chinese and Korean young artists.

“Art Nova 100” 2013 has deeply explored various exhibiting structures. Artists from Hong Kong and Macao are initially placed in the selected category, a total of 5 young artists from Hong Kong and Macao participated in the project. Secondly, a Korean curator was invited to participate in the art committee of the annual exhibition, recommending and selecting 10 young Korean contemporary artists for the project. Thirdly, the annual exhibition initially launches “Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Young Video Artist Invitational Exhibition”, a total of 10 young video artists are invited to feature their works, to comprehensively showcase the current status of the young image artists from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Finally, “Art Nova 100” continues to promote the public education of contemporary art, during the period of the official start, the project is about to launch different types of art activities including lectures, forums, etc.

Over the two years, “Art Nova 100” project has held large-scaled exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Erdos, etc., to allow the art followers across the nation to learn about the current status of young Chinese artists. In addition, in order to meet the further development required by the young artists, the project has specially launched the “Cream of the Crop · Youth Artist Solo Exhibition Series” for the excellent young artists, to hold solo exhibitions and even touring exhibitions across the nation for the artists chosen as excellent .
